Former Governor of Oklahoma, George Nigh, has passed away on July 30, 2025.

Mr. Nigh was Lt. Governor from 1967 to 1974. During his time as Lt. Governor, we were fortunate to have him speak at our Broken Arrow High School graduation ceromony that was held in our gymnasium on May 27, 1972.

I captured this moment as an 18-year-old, and wrote in my journal "He told us, be your self to become what we want to become and do not do what someone else said we needed to do. His speech was very good and kept our interest. He was funny yet shared some very important points." Ann Ary Herndon

If you have memories from his speach at our graduation, I would like to add them to our page.
